This 3"x9" piece of smooth leather will prove invaluable when you want to attach embellishments that you can't (or don't want to) stitch directly onto your shoes.
For example, you might want to put the embellishment on a part of the shoe (like the very front of the toe) that you can't easily reach with needle and thread. Or, you think it's too much work to stitch lots of little embellishments (like a cluster of charms or jingle bells) directly onto a sandal or shoe made of thick leather.
Instead, you can cut off a piece of this leather, paint it the same color as you're painting your shoe (unless you want to use a contrasting color), stitch the embellishment(s) to the leather piece, then glue the leather to your shoe. |
